Hi. I'm Jonathan Beard. I teach the culinary classes at Sonoma Valley High School. This blog is all about cooking at SVHS. It is a work in progress and constantly being updated and revised. On this site you will find our recipes, assignments, photos, interesting info about food and cooking, and other stuff you might need for class. It is primarily designed for my students but anybody can check it out.

Because Covid 19 is still such a problem this Fall semester we'll be starting with distance learning. What does that mean for cooking classes? How will we get materials? Will we even get to cook? These are jus the beginning of the questions that we will have to figure out. But, we will figure it out.
This is a great school and a great place to learn to cook. Not only are we lucky enough to be located in Sonoma County with all of its great farms, food, and restaurants but we work closely with the agriculture classes and help raise pigs and chickens right here on campus. We also take trips to local farms and farmer markets to see how our fruit and vegetables are grown and eventually we will have our own kitchen garden.
Here is a link that will take you directly to photos from 2013/14 when I first started developing the program.
